The storm Euroclydon.
Euroclydon..was the storm which wrecked the ship in which St.Paul was travelling as a prisoner for Christ to witness in Rome.When he was talking about the sufferings he endured for the sake of Christ in 2Cor.11:25,he mentions that,thrice he was in shipwreck.May be,the shipwreck we read in Acts 27 is one of them.We see,naming a storm is even from the Bible days!..Euroclydon.
The ship in which apostle Paul was sailing was in the Mediterranean sea on its way to Rome.St.Paul warned the centurion not to sail,but to wait because he perceived danger and much damage.The centurion believed the pilot and the owner of the ship,more than
the man of God.So the ship sailed and soon was hit by the hurricane Euroclydon.They were tossed about by the storm for two weeks,without seeing sun or star.They decided to lighten the ship and threw overboard the cargo.Everybody lost hope.St.Paul stood up boldly and shared the vision he had that night,the ship will wreck,but God will save everyone of them.They used a line and cheked twice to see how deep the water was.The shipmen senced that they were nearing the shore. They let down the four anchors and waited for the dawn.St.Paul stood up took bread ,gave thanks to God and began to eat and asked the others to eat,to have strength to swime and escape.When they had eaten enough ,to lighten the ship still, they cast out the wheat into the sea.The dawn came.They cut down the anchors in the sea ,untied the ropes that held the rudders,hoisted the foresail to the wind and made for the beach.The ship ran aground,the front end got stuck and the back end was wrecked by the violent waves.The solders wanted to kill all the prisoners that they may escape,but the centurion who wanted to save Paul ordered them to swim or grab a broken piece of the ship and float to the land. God saved everyone of them for the sake of HIS child Paul,as HE promised in the vision.
The Bible says that our Faith is the ship which will take us to heaven,[1Tim.1:19]
this ship also needs an anchor,that is Hope,that is Christ Himself.[Hebrews 6:19,20]Alleluia! We never hear of the anchors the seamen put in the sea that day again.In the the same way worldly anchors of hope will fade away.Jesus is THE only trustworthy anchor, for HE is THE anchor of the soul.My dear child ,is Jesus your anchor? Put your trust in HIM and be blessed!Amen!!HE will surely guide us to the eternal shore safely.
"Jesus I am your child ;be my anchor,save me from the storms of this world and guide me to the joy eternal."Amen.
